HELLO, ABSTRACT.
I am excited for this opportunity, which aligns with a lot of the work I’ve been doing in recent years. My photography, film, and fiction explore cultural alignments and pressure points, the ways in which humans work together and around each other to overcome, persevere, survive, and thrive. My travel photography seeks to capture the scars left by our triumphs and defeats: a landscape forever altered, a landscape of ruins.
Likewise, short experimental films on 16mm, 8mm, and Super8mm have allowed me to widen my field of view and explore the temporal nature of our interactions with the world we’ve inherited.
After recent photography trips to Berlin, Rome, Ireland, and the UK; and a creative residency in Vermont; this summer residency in France is a stunningly perfect next opportunity to explore a new place and new people through the lens of my still and motion picture film cameras; this seems more relevant now than ever, as our global community seems on the verge of fracturing entirely.
You’ll find some photographs below, and from here you can poke around the rest of the site to learn a bit more about me, my films, and my fiction. You may also want to explore my 2012 experimental collaboration Robe of Bones, a photography book and short 16mm film created on a road trip through New England. You’ll find links to Instagram, IMDb, and LinkedIn above; my CV here; and some older abstract film work on the archeological site that is my YouTube page.
Thank you for what you do; there’s never been a more important time to support and nurture the arts, our universal language.
